My name is Jessica Libor, and I am an artist, curator, art professor and artist coach. I completed my master of fine arts at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2014. In my mind, this was the pinnacle of achievement for a young artist. I thought that once I got my degree, the galleries, opportunities, and success would come knocking at my door. Little did I know that once I graduated, the real education began! Although my school was great at teaching technique, it did a little to prepare artists for the emotional and financial realities of being an artist today. I soon realized that I had to figure it all out. Many months I struggled as an artist, having existential doubts if I had made the right career choice, and if my art would really make a difference. Not only that, but I worried about my financial future. Would I have to give up my passion of painting in order to survive? I remember one evening sobbing on the floor of my studio, feeling so hopeless and dejected about my art career. I thought I felt like I put so much work, money, and effort into my decision to be an artist, and at the end of all of that, nothing was turning out like I had hoped. I was broke and desperate! That was the turning point for me. A small voice inside of me told me that I was worth it to look for help. After that night, I decided I needed help. I ended up hiring over the next year three different coaches and therapists, and working on my inner beliefs. In doing so, I realized how much my beliefs about my worthiness were affecting my life…and my art career!
